【摘要】:Oneofthebenefitsofthisstandardpracticeistheabilitytocalibratefortheanalysisofhighlyradioactiveactinidesusingcalibrationstandardsatmuchlowerspecificactivities(thatis,232Thand238U).Environmentallaboratoriesmayfindthisstandardpracticeusefuliffacilitiesarenotavailabletohandlethehighlyradioactivestandardsoftheindividualactinidesofinterest.Thedegreeofactualmassbiasisvariableandisdependentuponinstrumenttuneparameters.Thisstandardpracticeusesuniversalinterferenceequationstoderiveamassbiascorrectionthatisspecifictotheinstrumentparametersandtuneusedforsampledataacquisitionandnotbasedonahistoricalaverage.Massbiascorrectionusestheinstrumentsoftwareinterferenceequationsanddoesnotrequireadditionalsubsequentoff-linecalculations.Themethodologythatthisstandardpracticeisbasedonhasbeenusedforthedeterminationof232Thand237Npinenricheduraniumsolutionsandthedeterminationof241Aminplutoniumanduraniumlegacyoxidesfollowingdissolutionandionextractionchromatographyseparation.1.1ThisstandardpracticeprovidesguidanceforanalternatelinearcalibrationforthedeterminationofselectedactinideisotopesinappropriatelypreparedaqueoussolutionsbyInductivelyCoupledPlasma-MassSpectrometry(ICP-MS).Thisalternatecalibrationismassbiasadjustedusingthorium-232(232Th)anduranium-238(238U)standards.Oneofthebenefitsofthisstandardpracticeistheabilitytocalibratefortheanalysisofhighlyradioactiveactinidesusingcalibrationstandardsatmuchlowerspecificactivities.Environmentallaboratoriesmayfindthisstandardpracticeusefuliffacilitiesarenotavailabletohandlethehighlyradioactivestandardsoftheindividualactinidesofinterest.1.2Theinstrumentresponseforaseriesofdeterminationsofknownconcentrationof232Thand238Udefinesthemassversusresponserelationship.Foreachstandardconcentration,theslopeofthelinedefinedby232Thand238Uisusedtoderivelinearcalibrationcurvesforeachmassofinterestusinginterferenceequations.Themassbiascorrectedcalibrationcurves,althoughgeneratedfrominterferenceequations,arespecifictotheinstrumentoperatingparametersandtuningineffectatthetimeofdataacquisition.BecauseinterferenceequationsarepartofthenormalICP-MSmanufacturer'ssoftwarepackage,thiscalibrationmethodologyiswidelyapplicable.1.3Forthisstandardpractice,theactinideatomicmassrangethathasbeenstudiedisfromamu232-244.Guidanceforanextendedrangeofamu228-248isgiveninthispractice.1.4Usingthispractice,analyteconcentrationsarereportedateachamuandnotbyelementtotal(thatis,239Puversusplutonium).1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
